What causes temporomandibular jaw disorders?

The exact cause of TMJ/TMD is often difficult to determine and varies patient to patient. These disorders may be due to injury, arthritis, teeth grinding, or habitually clenching the jaw. Symptoms of TMJ/TMD include:

Pain or tenderness in your jaw
Pain in one or both temporomandibular joints
